My work seeks to uncover the intersections between the mundane and the magical, the physical and the metaphysical. The figures in my paintings are infused with symbolic metaphors that speak of spirituality and the mysteries of our relationship to nature. I am fascinated with the ways in which our perceptions of reality are shaped by the various social, historical and spiritual frameworks that we inherit from our ancestors. Often presenting the figure in nature, as nature, I try to anthropomorphize concepts while maintaining a hint of ambiguity. In this way my viewers are drawn into the cognitive dissonance to decide for themselves what they perceive and believe.
